The rest of my voyage in the bowels of Tartaros, as I recall it, was a hellish nightmare only a madman could see in his dreams.

Maybe it was a brief look at hell itself, or maybe it was just a nightmarish fancy created by my unstable mind.

Finally, after what felt like days to me, I reached the place where I was destined to be, even before I was born...

I really can't be sure. Who could be!

"I have seen the dark universe yawning, where the black planets roll without aim; where they roll in their horror unheeded, without knowledge or lustre or name."

And I've seen creatures, things no living being has ever seen before. To think that nature has created such things...

No! Nature would never create such abominations!

Great flying things resembling moths and creatures slowly crawling in every dark corner of the cold pre-human city.

And the worst of all: half-man and half-reptilian hybrids rising from their basaltic tombs placed into the niches of the dark, mossy, yet flamboyantly carved walls, accompanied by an alluring but unearthly chant.

Hearing this, I know every sane person would call me mad, and I truly hope I am.

Because "if I am mad, it is mercy! May the gods pity the man who in his callousness can remain sane to the hideous end!"
